Mascha Corman (DE) & Mike McCormick’s EIDOLON
kl. 19 Gratis
Kulturhuset -> Boksen
In October 2018, vocalist Mascha Corman asked Mike McCormick to play a duo concert of improvised music with her in Switzerland – but he was scheduled to be in Canada at the time. His response was to create EIDOLON, an algorithmically generated score of synthesized sounds and interactive audio processing, created in the software SuperCollider. The first performance of this “duo” was in October 2018, and this concert will feature many recent developments of the project.
MIKE MCCORMICK is an Oslo-based guitarist, laptop performer, and composer originally from Yellowknife, Canada. Though his primary expression is through music performance, Mike’s creative output draws from a variety of disciplines, including conceptual and performance art, electroacoustic music, twentieth-century literature, and various notated and improvised music traditions. His active projects include the improvising trio BRINICLE, the improvising laptop/saxophone duo Abelseth/McCormick, and the Oslo-based composer’s orchestra OJKOS.
MASCHA CORMAN is a vocalist and composer born in Düsseldorf, Germany. She studied jazz singing and composition at the Academy of Music in Cologne as well as deaf pedagogy at the University of Cologne, Germany. Since 2018 she has been completing her master studies at the Academy of the Arts in Bern, Switzerland. Corman’s compositions and concepts range from contemporary jazz, free improvisation and poetry. A strong interest of hers lies in the exploration of the voice’s potential. As a composer, singer, and vocal artist, she has participated in several interdisciplinary projects and is the founder of the initiative STIMMUNGEN in Loft Köln.
